We write to you as the collective SPPB executive, to offer support and guidance during a time of much uncertainty.
Changes are happening around us quickly as our broader society responds in every way possible to a pandemic that has affected nearly everyone in some way.
We believe that health and safety of individual members, their families and other loved ones must come first, always.
We also believe that each of us, as members, has an obligation to respect these same priorities for other members in their choice to associate with and participate in SPPB practices and gatherings.
As executive, we have jointly agreed to the following strategy over the coming weeks;
- Effective immediately, there will be no formal or official practices at the Masonic Hall until April 14th. An assessment will be made in advance of that date as to whether the practice delay will continue.
- The owners of the Hall have been contacted to increase the level of cleaning at the hall and agree it is a necessary priority.
- Members should continue to practice at home where circumstances permit. Sharing of electronic emails, recordings, etc. is encouraged, along with simple phone calls, to check up and provide support for one another.
- Regular updates will be placed on the SPPB blog site.
- We are, also, cancelling the April SPPB gathering at the curling rink and will continue to monitor the status of the upcoming Victoria Highland Games and related pre-parade (these have not, yet, been cancelled according to the websites).
- When the membership is formally brought back together, we intend to follow best practices and common sense to ensure we create the safest environment possible for participation.
- In the meantime, the following information is available through the Ministry of Health that members may wish to explore further.
